Darcy is a completely original design of my own. He is one of my, as I affectionately call them, “dog dragons”, which are dragons who have dog-like snouts, feet, and eyes, and are generally cute and friendly. ^_^ I made him in about 4 days of planning, and then 3 days of solid work making him for the DA contest. I am really happy with how he came out!

Darcy’s body is made from dark purple mico suede, which is similar to ultra suede but is a little softer and thinner (ultra suede is about 1/8 of and inch thick). His main parts I sewed on my sewing machine (an ancient 1978 Kenmore Singer… XD ) and they were then sewn together by hand (So I lock-stitched on his legs, neck, and tail onto his body part.)

His wings are made from ultra suede, and I made them COMPLETELY from scratch, including the colors (I airbrushed them with acrylics, and overlaid it in three layers for each wing.) His ear insides and tail tip are also done the same way.

His huge neck frill and tail floof over his tail end are a rainbow organza, that I zig-zag stitched (to seal the edges) with gold thread into some interesting, swishy shapes. (That way it would not fray and self-destruct as a single layer).

He has black lace on his back as a frill, and some overlaid on his terrycloth paws.

His ears, frill vein, neck, and wings have wire in them for posing, and mostly for stability. I made the rest of him floppy by artists choice. X3 Makes him more fun to cuddle!

The pattern on his belly is a neat, thick fabric with a dotted pattern that got it in warm and cool colors a while back, so I alternated strips of it to create his scaly-looking belly. It goes on his underside from his neck to half-way down his tail.

Lastly, his eyes / nose are painted super sculpey clay. His face and left arm markings are painted on too.
