Thank you X33! About three days (one day for the carving, afternoon for painting, and another day sewing and stuffing the fire) That doesn't include the time making the back gear, just for the disc itself. The painting was the easiest, and the carving was slow/time consuming, and required control, but it was not technically hard *hugs dremel drill*
Wow, that looks fantabulous! X3 love the colors! What is it made out of? Hopefully it wasn't heavy material...^^' (you having to carry it on your back lol)
Thanks! It's not heavy at all. Flames & all it's only 1.5 pounds, the final back apparatus (to make it float above my back - not used during Otakon tho) is simple and weighs less than a pound.
The disc is made from that pink insulation foam stuff... [link] (<-- what it looks like that at Home Depot). The flames are sewn and stuffed (like a plushie) and are held out in three places inside with stiff wire.
How long did this take?

omg, tee, but that's awesome! I would love to see it float though O.O
