It's finally DONE. omg. O_O This was my final in Conceptual Maquette Design.
It is a maquette (a clay model. We use Super Sculpey in the class) of one of my characters Scryer. He is basically a ‘lobster centaur’ if you want to make it simple. He had six human arms and 8 lobster legs. He is supposed to have webbed hands but I didn’t do that in the maquette right now due to time constraints. XD;
His armature (wire skeleton) was ridiculously complicated, and took a long time to get together. Mostly because we needed to have removable parts using square tubing (it’s complicated…I don’t really want to try and explain it. XD). But it’s uber strong, thanks to the armature! ^__^
And you are not hallucinating, in some of the side pics he has his third set right arm, where's in the big pic on the left he has it chopped off (he gets beat up a lot). It is an optional part and can be interchanged. The two side frills on his human upper back also can come out, and in some of the pics he has the frills up, and in others they are down. (I made to separate frills, one for up and one for down).
You can see a color pic of his upper torso in one of my other deviations here: [link]
This sculpture is wildly beautiful. I adore Super Sculpey - it's so lovely to work with, very waxy and fleshy. All of his little scales and claws are very well done; there is a great attention to detail in this one.
His frills and fins - the transparent parts - are they Super Sculpey as well?
Yes Sir admirable work! im loving all your stuff. I know exactly how many hows something like this takes... but i have just one question: are you gonna paint that sucker LAMO! sculpting is time consuming but its only haveway there.
